Birding Saint Gertrudis Lane, Tumacacori, Arizona

One of my favorite birding spots is the Juan Bautiste de Anza Trail just north and south of Saint Gertrudis Lane in Tumacacori.

Susie and Steve (guests of ours) and I headed down after breakfast a couple of days ago in hopes of relocating the reported Sinaloa Wren and Rufous Backed Robins. No luck with either but we did find it very "birdie," and came away with some nice photos:

Christine and I went with some friends (former guests of The Azure Gate who have now moved here) to the Tumacacori Mission.

It wasn't a birding trip, just visiting the Mission. I took my camera (just in case) anyway.

The Grey Hawk is rare visitor to the United States. Typically only found close to the US/Mexico boarder in southeast Arizona and the extreme southern tip of Texas. Over the years I have photographed a few. Here is one from this year that I particularly like:
