The Coachline Gravel Pit is a relatively new birding spot here in Southern Arizona. It's about 20 minutes north of Tucson in Marana -- what used to be a golf course has now been flooded to create a lake of about (this is a guess) 100 acres.
The first photo is the lake. The second photo, a resident Great Egret that was showing off.

ReplyDeleteGo North out of Tucson on Interstate 10 to the Twin Peaks Exit. Go West on Twin Peaks Road for about a mile. Then turn right on Coachline Road. In another mile you'll see a maintenance building with a blue roof. Turn right on the dirt road just past the building. Go about 1/4 to a parking area. Then walk up the embankment and you'll see the water.
